Job Simulator

The Game

Job Simulator by Owlchemy Labs is a “simulator” type game in which you do various seemingly mundane tasks for different job scenarios. The game puts a comedic virtual twist on the average simulator game. It is set in the future where you are there simulating the past (the current present) of what life was like when humans were relevant and working a job not yet replaced by robots.

The game offers 4 different job scenarios to play out. Officer worker, Mechanic, Chef, and Store clerk. Each scenario offers different tasks for you to complete which involve using the tools and things in your environment. Although you can complete the game in a few hours, Job Simulator is about the experience and the humor.

Each job is amusing and has little quirks and different objects that makes it special. For instance in the office job scenario, using the computer is a bizarre sensation as it almost feels like a real computer.

The developers recently updated the game and added “Infinite Overtime”, a mode in which the player can do a random assortment of missions for each job, infinitely. This was a wise move and exactly what the game was initially lacking.
All jokes aside, the game is a fast play and gets boring given time. If the developers continue supporting the game like they did with the recent update, it will be worth it’s current price tag. Just that as it stands, it won’t be seen as a game that would tip someone over the fence about buying a VR headset, but It’s good fun for casual play.

There’s not much to say here. The graphics on the launch PS4 work and look fine, enough to keep the player immersed in the world. Although I didn’t play it on the PS4 Pro, it improves the graphics and performance of the game.

The Final Verdict

At the end of the day, Job Simulator is a great game for those who are just starting out with VR and want something to show off to friends and family. It HAD about 2-3 hours of content until the recent update with Infinite Overtime. For a small team and a $20 game you can't complain. If you have your "VR legs" as they say, and haven't played this one yet, you probably won't be impressed. But it is and will remain a VR classic.
